The one I have in mind wasn't. Minor clue, what I'm after is the first book in which she appeared.

Is it Daphne Turner, who appears first in the Second Form at Malory Towers?

Are you referring to Daphne Millicent Turner from The Second Form at Malory Towers?

ha! that serves me right for referring to Eunice as 'Miss Tolling'. When I heard Miss Turner I immediately thought of an adult .. silly moi.

Well, I didn't want to make it TOO easy! DM Turner is the correct answer, 70s-child (and others).

Thanks, DSR.

Here is the next one (hopefully fairly easy): When we are first introduced to this character, she is described as having curly, red hair, green eyes, and a fair skin with hundreds of freckles. Who is she, and which is the first book she appears in?
