I think it said 2 months in the book but that is the same as 8 weeks - I'll have to go check at some point

Now I'll have to take a guess at these being the official colours but blue and silver seem to be used a lot

I just had a re-read of this Q and I didn't phrase it too well so here's a quote to help answer:

Jack planted the beans in the little bare places at the bottom of a hedge. He said they would be able to grow up the ........ and probably wouldn't be noticed if anyone came.
