"We need to get Uncle Quentin and Dick out of this radioactivity George and Anne, aswell ourselves. We could be in very harmful conditions right now." Julian said

"Well I don't feel to well myself.." sighed Anne.

"And where's Timmy?" asked George. "I can here this dog barking but I'm sure it's not Timmy!"

"Maybe this weird author; Mr. Karodizy brought a dog and they're fighting?" suggested Julian.

"Oh no. We've got to check." cried George.

"And we've got to see wether Mr. Karodizy is okay as well. He may just well be 'dizy' as his name suggests!" said Anne trying to smile.

"But first," advised Julian, "lets see to Dick and Uncle Quentin."

-------------------------------------------

Suggestion for later posts:

1) Uncle Quentin & Dick may have been made lighter by the radioactivity somehow???? - So they're not as hard to carry.
2) Maybe this illness isn't caused by Uncle Quentin's experiment, but Mr. Karodizy's own personal - delibratly brought here - chemical radioactivity he's spreading for some benifit????

The others bent over the two who were still lying on the ground. Julian tried to lift his brother and was surprised at how light he felt. "George, you and Anne pick your father up if you can." he said as he moved out of the ruined room with Dick back into the courtyard, where the sun was now shining and drying up the ground quickly.

Something told them to keep away from the barking dog.
Somehow they managed to get themselves down in the caves. They passed through various nondescript caves and passages then the passage suddenly widened out into an enormous dark cave, whose roof was unexpectedly high, lost in dark shadows. George and the others stared round. They saw queer things there that they didn’t understand at all — wires, glass boxes, little machines that seemed to be at work without a sound, whose centres were alive with queer, gleaming, shivering light......

"When did all this get here?" asked George in wonder. She and Anne had placed her father against a wall and now he seemed to be reviving. Dick was also loking much more like himself. They all stared round at the curious sight. Julian stepped forward to look more closely when his uncle suddenly yelled out "Stop"

Julian looked doubtfully at his uncle. Was the scientist really thinking clearly now or still suffering from the effects of what ever had caused his collapse?

He hesitantly turned the knob, and Instantly the BBC World Service flooded the cave with the warm and rounded tones of a rich plummy spoken announcer.
"My mistake Julian," apologized Uncle Quentin."Its the smaller knob underneath the black one you need to turn."
Julian dutifully turned the lower knob,This time Success!Everyone immediately felt.....
