Richard Adams creates a complex world in Watership Down, making for a rich and multi-layered read. Felix Salten's books are not as involved but I love the poetic and philosophical elements, e.g. in Bambi two autumn leaves have a conversation about life, death, fragility, beauty, etc. It brings a lump to my throat every time I read it! I don't remember Fifteen Rabbits very well, or Bambi's Children, but I've read Bambi numerous times and I'm a fan of the Disney film too, even though it's not as subtle or as broad in scope as the book. I agree with you about the artistry in the animation and the backgrounds, Courtenay, and the music is beautiful as well.

Well, that explains him giving the book a Welsh setting, to gootness! I've just Googled some reviews of it, but will post them elsewhere so as not to take this thread off topic.

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Almost impossible but here goes.
1. The Valley of Adventure-Enid Blyton.
2. Ghosts/The Amazing Mr Blunden-Antonia Barber.
3. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire-J K Rowling.
Really can't believe I've left out The Sea of Adventure.
