Zoe Billings - The Mystery of Tully Hall

Post by Moonraker »

Our old friend, Zoe Billings, has had a book published and is to be interviewed on BBC Radio York (available via BBC Sounds for the UK) today at 1.40pm. Well done, Zoe!

Well done Zoe. There was a piece in a local newspaper about her and her book also. She got in some great plugs for Blyton and the '78 FF series. The book looks fab as well. I shall order a copy just as soon as I can get my employment situation sorted out.

Splendid interview, Zoe. Good that the presenter, Jonathan Cowap, repeated the book title and Zoe's name several times... Very professional.

Well I enjoyed that! Thanks for the heads up Nigel.
We certainly have some talented people on these forums (myself excluded of course!).

Here's a link to the interview, which starts around 3:40 (3hrs 40 mins) into the broadcast:

I couldn't listen to it, as I don't have a BBC account, but congratulations to Zoe, and good luck with book sales. :)

Thanks for the link, Pete. I've just had a listen. Shame the presenter had to trot out the racist/classist/sexist criticisms, but otherwise a good interview. I proof-read the book for Zoe a few years ago and she sent me a (signed) copy recently - much nicer than the Word document I read the first time

I reviewed it if anyone wants to know more before buying - https://worldofblyton.com/2021/07/14/if ... -billings/
"It's the ash! It's falling!" yelled Julian, almost startling Dick out of his wits...
"Listen to its terrible groans and creaks!" yelled Julian, almost beside himself with impatience.

I use the BBC Sounds app daily, listening to many radio programmes after they have been broadcast. With a Bluetooth enabled speaker or headphones, I have quality listening whenever I so wish. I listened to a 5-part Agatha Christie production from BBC 4 Extra the other afternoon, really good.

It costs nothing to create an account and takes a few seconds.

Ha ha - yes, I know that's an option, but I get fed up of having to think of passwords for things.

I enjoyed reading Fiona's comments about the book.

Zoe Billings - The Mystery Of Tully Hall

Post by George@Kirrin »

Merged with an earlier topic.

Hello!

I hope some of you remember me? Complete F5 and '78 series nut?

I banned myself from most Blyton stuff when I began writing my children's book as, it's so influenced by my love of Blyton, I needed to keep some of it me!

Delighted that, after way too long I have published it and it's available in paperback and kindle. What an absolute adventure it was to write. It's the same length as a Famous Five and for same sort of ages (so about 9 - till your eyes stop working) gently brought to the modern day but still with masses of adventure, mystery... and food....

So, you may have seen the lovely review Fiona wrote about my book, if not here - https://worldofblyton.com/2021/07/14/if ... -billings/

Or what I had to say about it here - https://entirely.media/arts/business-ne ... axC8Yemjhg

I can now allow myself to be back here, nattering, although having stupidly said live on BBC Radio York that I hoped to have the second book in the series out by Christmas, I'd better get cracking and discover what the four next get up to!

Any thoughts and feedback would be most welcome - some is already shaping book two and I confess, I am now a feedback junkie and every time a new review appears on Amazon - I do a little dance.

Anyone wishing to get a copy, please click below and here's to being Blytonesque forever!

It's lovely to be back!
