 I haven't read that but it sounds amusing!

Now I remember that I grew up with Monica Edward's Romney Marsh books. As quite a young child I read 'Wish for a Pony' and 'Summer of the great secret' many times. My friend who had plaits was Tamzin and I was Rissa and we galloped on imaginary horses along suburban footpaths. Years later when I was at High School I read 'No Going Back' and found it very satisfactory. It was the last Monica Edwards book I ever read. I can see from the posts that I've been missing out. I think I saw a Monica Edwards topic I'll have a look at. Meanwhile, I've added 'No Going Back' to the pile of 'to reads' on my desk.

Judith, look for The White Riders. That's my favourite!

It's nice to hear of someone else who has read the book. :D

I'm not sure how many times I've read it, but it's probably one of my most read books. I remember once I sat up until about 2am to finish it!

I think I bought my copy at junior school when they were selling off some of the library books, it came without its D/W and the pages are very brown and brittle, so I have to be very careful when reading it.

I've finished "The Blue Castle" and really enjoyed it. It's certainly well up there with one of my all time favourites, "Jane of Lantern Hill". Thank you for the recommendation Judith.

I'll have a bash at it whilst reading Rat-A-Tat if you enjoyed it that much Daisy.
As it's an older book I was able to get the kindle version here:
