I've decided to order these books after reading the comments on here and those of the reviewers on Amazon. Unfortunately, one of the books is unavailable right now, The Deeping Secrets, so I may have to buy this in Waterstones.
I recently bought the hardback of John Grisham's - The Fugitive - which is the fifth book in his Theodore Boon series. It was immaculate and might have come straight off the shelf in Waterstone's, it cost me £2.71 with free postage!
I am pleased that it saved you a bit, John. Unfortunately Operation Blackout is still a bit too recent to have come down much in price, but even that would be cheaper on ebay. I used to buy regularly on Amazon, but now they take very little off (sometimes nothing) on new paperbacks and firms such as Wordery that sell on ebay charge less and offer free postage, they are also very quick and efficient.
It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)
When my younger son was about 8 he broke a bone near the elbow and had a straight plaster put on. This was obviously not in a sling so when he wore a long sleeved jumper it was not obvious at all. Can you imagine with what glee he discovered this lethal weapon he had literally up his sleeve? He put it to good use in the playground against bullies until they learned to steer clear of him.
