The Dictionary of 20th Century British Book Illustrators-Alan Horne
I had an email from ebay saying that a copy I was watching had been reduced to £15 including postage for this normally expensive book so I snapped it up right away.
I can't wait for it to arrive...

That's the buy of the year Pete. It's a wonderful book but I paid much much more than that for my copy.

It looks great, Pete. Please let us know more about it when it arrives.

It looks a great book, Pete, but I would be interested to know if it contains anything on any of the Blyton illustrators, most similar books tend to ignore children's illustrators, which is why I have been unable to find out much about Dorothy Wheeler, Hilda McGavin etc. I still don't know whether E.H. Davey who did an enormous amount of illustrating for EB (specially in Sunny Stories) was male or female!

It might help if you looked up E. H. Davie rather than E. H. Davey!Tony Summerfield wrote:I still don't know whether E.H. Davey who did an enormous amount of illustrating for EB (specially in Sunny Stories) was male or female!

Yes,absolutely,Tony & Eddie.The first thing I am going to do is look up all the obvious illustrators we know and love.
Some are disappointed because this book covers the years 1915-85,but this is the time period that interests me the most!
Plus,I can remedy that by now hunting down the obvious companion volume;
