I read the Hunger Games trilogy a year or so ago now, I enjoyed the first book because I wasn't expecting it to be any good. But I thought the second book was not as good as the first or third. I am yet to see the film as the waiting list at the library is about two hundred people long right now.

At first I thought Catching Fire was a bit boring but the big twist with the Quell just, wow!!! I thought it was just as good as the first. But i'm afraid i found the end of the third a bit dissapointing. I know i couldn't make up a better ending but it just wasn't OMG enough for me.

Cripes Moonraker, you need a course on modern lingo! What I mean is that the end wasn't surprising enough. Not as surprising as the other books. Katniss should have actually killed Snow.

Hey, i've just found out that The Hunger Games is a stolen novel. A long time ago, a Japanese author wrote this book called Battle Royale. A school class of kids between 9-11 are sent by this awful company to kill each other until only one survives. I don't know hpw Susie Collins got away with it!

Actually, she cmae up with the story entirely by herself.

The novel has been criticized for its similarities to the 1999 novel Battle Royale, by Koushun Takami. Collins has stated, "I had never heard of that book or that author until my book was turned in. At that point, it was mentioned to me, and I asked my editor if I should read it. He said: 'No, I don't want that world in your head. Just continue with what you're doing.'

Thanks for the info Abi. I just read some reviews on amazon stating it was copied. And i guess there are many differences between the two books and Mockingjay is nothing like Battle Royale. Susie Collins has made a modern day and probbably better version of Battle Royale.

I got it from my friend, and it really is great!! I finished a few days ago. Just the first book tho. Have to read the other 2, my frnd's got it, but she can't find it!! She'll give the 2nd one to me soon tho. Caaaaaaaaaaaan't wait!! Lovely book tho!!

I wouldn't have described it as "lovely" Darrell! Exciting? Yes. Thrilling? Yes, but some of the scenes depicted in the books are horrific! Personally, I couldn't bear to watch a film based on these books.

I will stick to the proper English language, thanks. One of my pet hates is this constant use of, "Oh my God!". A stupid girl screamed it out, the other day, and made several people jump. Apparently, someone had commented on her Facebook page. As it is also blasphemous to take God's name in vain, it'll eventually land you in trouble!

Well, in US at least, we say Oh My Gosh instead of God. Roc, no need to comment on it, the old hands like Moonraker do tend to stick to the normal thing. Tho for us, txt lingo IS the normal thing!! My dad uses perfectly normal english on fb, and I've noticed most people his age or older do. Well, I don't. I use txt lang like all my friends.

You usually get some funny results if you gently ask "yes?" or, in your case, "You can call me Moonraker".

What do you think of The Hunger Games by Susan Collins? I found it really good but I honestly couldn't get into the second book Catching Fire.
