I can't believe they have left DESTINATION UNKNOWN out though, can you???

Destination Unknown is a work of spy fiction by Agatha Christie and first published in the UK by the Collins Crime Club on 1 November 1954[1] and in US by Dodd, Mead and Company in 1955 under the title of So Many Steps to Death.[2][3] The UK edition retailed at ten shillings and sixpence (10/6)[1] and the US edition at $2.75.[3]

The novel opens in Morocco, where Hilary Craven is staying after a failed marriage. She plans to commit suicide, but is instead recruited by the British secret service for a mission. She is asked to impersonate the wife of a nuclear scientist who has recently disappeared. Hilary is soon transported to meet her new "husband".

As the faculty is killed off one by one, Julia realizes she needs help solving the mystery. And who better to turn to than Hercule Poirot?

This Mitchell & Webb "Agatha Christie" sketch where Hercule Poirot knows he got the murderer once they start doing the Evil Voice after being accused, start smoking from evil cigarette holders and dressing sexy, and tend to end up killing themselves which Poirot mentions is for the best because 'doing an Evil Voice' doesn't hold up in some court as evidence.

I was very disappointed to discover that last week there had been "A Murder is Announced" at my local theatre, and I was only aware of it on the final evening, by which time there wasn't time for me to get myself a ticket.

It had a cast that included Sarah Thomas (Glenda in Last of the Summer Wine), and I know several people who saw it and said it was very good. I'm hoping very much it will return to the area at some point.

On the question of her first radio appearance (raised on another thread) the earliest can find is 21-June-1930.

The BBC National Programme's 'Behind The Screen' was a 6-part detective serial with each episode written by a different person. Christie wrote the second instalment.

Thank you very much Splodj - I am just about to begin my own research.

I was just thinking that as Agatha Christie was born in 1890 she would have been around thirty two years of age when radio began.

Her first published book, The Mysterious Affair at Styles, was released in 1920, two years before radio.
