I've started to re-read the various Fairy Tale collections on my Kindle, and at the moment it's those of Charles Perrault. I've read lots of variations of Little Red Riding Hood in my life. Some have the wolf simply locking grandmother in the cupboard. Some have the wolf eating grandmother. Some have the wolf eating grandmother, but the huntsman kill him, cuts him open, and out comes grandmother alive at the end.
There's no holds barred with Perrault. Not only does the wolf eat grandmother, he eats poor Red as well!

I'm reading several books from the public library on film noir.
Strangely enough the first (French) book ever written on the topic from 1955 has movies like "The Adventures of Robin Hood" and "An American in Paris" in their film noir list even though they are no film noirs.

I have just finished Liz Filleul's excellent To All Appearance, Dead. It was an excellent murder mystery that I can't recommend highly enough. I have just started Sacrilege, by SJ Parris - the third in the Giordano Bruno mediæval murder mysteries series.

I've read two books by Lawrence Block (no relation to the more well known but infamous namesake).
The Burglar Who Liked to Quote Kipling and burglar in the library. A crime / mystery but told in a humorous sort of way with the main character being a burglar himself.
Made a change.

I enjoyed Frances Mayes' UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN on holiday and was delighted to find the sequel, BELLA TUSCANY, on my return, keeps the happy holiday memories going!

Floragord, did you watch the movie with Diane Lane which is also called "Under the Tuscan Sun"?
Beautiful landscape cinematography!

Chrissie, thank you very much for mentioning that! The cover of UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN features Diane Lane in the movie, and I hadn't thought further on it. I must get a DVD and enjoy the landscapes round Cortona, which Frances Mayes describes so lovingly in the books! The lovely people on the EBS forums come up with such helpful suggestions for marvellous books and movies.

You're very welcome, floragord .
Movies and especially filming locations are my hobby.
Here's more on the filming locations:
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0328589/lo ... tt_ql_dt_5" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
And here's the DVD:

If you scroll down, there are 330 mostly positive reviews.

I’m also interested in filming locations,Chrissie.
Have you any links to websites that give information about locations?

Re: What other author are you reading at the moment?
Eddie, there are these two:
http://www.movie-locations.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.movielocationsguide.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
You can either google filming locations or movie locations, both works.
My favorite is this one about film noirs filmed in San Francisco:
http://reelsf.com/reelsf/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (click on "Movie List" at the top right).
There's also a book on British filming locations whix=ch I bought years ago and where I finally found out that "Blow Up" by Antonioni was filmed at Maryon Park in Greenwich. However, it does not show up in amazon.co.uk and right now Cody is sleeping in the dining room library where I have all my movie books, so I can't go in there at the moment.

Re: What other author are you reading at the moment?
Warm thanks for those, Chrissie, the filming locations look stunning. I've ordered the more recent DVD version from Amazon and am already looking forward to enjoying same on a rainy afternoon! I appreciate your trouble looking those up. I haven't done a lot of browsing on film locations, but particularly enjoyed looking up where INDIAN SUMMERS was filmed, set in Simla, India, the scenery was much the same as that of our childhood in a similar hill station.Chrissie777 wrote:You're very welcome, floragord .

Re: What other author are you reading at the moment?
Eddie, now Cody is awake and upstairs, so here's the book I wanted to recommend to you:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Location-Guide ... nd+Ireland" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Many books on amazon don't show up even if you type in the correct keyword, as happened with this one. It doesn't come up if you search for "filming locations" or "movie locations".
