I enjoyed reading that, Pete. Enid Blyton has a great sense of rhythm and a great sense of fun.
"Heyho for a starry night and a heathery bed!" - Jack, The Secret Island.

"There is no bond like the bond of having read and liked the same books."
- E. Nesbit, The Wonderful Garden.

Very sweet and clever! I've always loved punning jokes and riddles since I was little.

Here's another one by Enid, from memory — it's in the Twelfth Bedside Book. I don't have it to hand, as my family's copy is still in Australia (if we still have it!), but here are the first four lines. There are four more that I can't remember, but they basically repeat the same ideas, while the opening lines should be enough for clever people to figure out the answer! :D It's another word with (at least) two different meanings...

I swim in the sea,
As flat as your hand —
Yet how can this be
When on me you stand?

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)
