My wife is the same Debbie - until she comes to me asking for a new book to read on her kindle!
My husband did once read a couple of Chalet Schools. He thought they were comedies. :D

Has to be PG Wodehouse. :D

Before I discovered his books, I read a lot of novels by the likes of John Steinbeck, Henry James, Charles Dickens... However, after discovering the wonderfully silly and hilarious world of Wodehouse, then I stopped being able to enjoy the more sombre authors. I now pretty much just read a constant rotation of Wodehouse and Enid Blyton books, with the occasional dips into Oscar Wilde, Mark Twain and Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories.

My favourite Wodehouse books are from the Jeeves & Wooster series (as my screen name indicates) - especially Right Ho Jeeves, Code of the Woosters and The Mating Season. But there's so many other wonderful books in the Blandings, Mr Mulliner or Uncle Fred series. And some great stand alone books.

I absolutely love his world. No preaching. No politics. No swearing. Just innocence and silliness. :P

Some of Chrissie’s are amongst my favourites:
Daphne DuMaurier, Camilla Lackberg and Linwood Barclay. Others are Henning Mankell, Ian Rankin, R.D.Wingfield and Angela Marsons. As I also enjoy true crime books, there are numerous one-offs - too many to mention.

Of course if it were a children's author I'd choose Violet Needham. Needless to say 'Favourite Authors' is a work in progress.
