I tend to think of us all as a huge bunch like the Find-Outers or Secret Seven - people of both sexes who meet in a spirit of friendly jollity, drawn together by our love of Enid Blyton (and, for most of us, reading in general).Katharine wrote:Even now I sometimes feel uncomfortable about chatting to the male members of the forums. You are correct, Katharine.

I have many female friends, and I don't feel at all uncomfortable with that. I had a female partner for 15 years in my ambulance career, we shared all the trials, despair and joy of the job, even sleeping together on night shifts. In fact, on several night shifts I could be the only male, so slept with three women at the same time!

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Oh yes, we've never had any secrets!
I once shared a sleeping bag with one of my female colleagues(it was bitterly cold) on a charity rail dash which involved an overnight trip from Inverness to Cornwall. I must add, that in spite of sleeping with many women, no improprieties have ever taken place. Whether or not I regret that, is left for you to decide!

Anita, I like the idea of us all being a group like the SS or FFO.
Nigel, I'm wondering what your lovely wife finds worse - your flirtatious comments/behaviour or your collection of books?

Well you have a wonderful relationship if that's true Moonraker, but unless you are married to a statue or a saint I doubt it is!Moonraker wrote:Nothing I do or own upsets or irritates her, Katharine.

She has written 2 brilliant detective/ mystery novels under the pseudonym of Gilbraith something. I read the first one last year and I can confirm that this one J.K. Rowling is very good at plotting her story with the very good writing to boot!
