Re: Harry Potter 7
I guess she was trying to do a Christian allegory .. or perhaps 'pull a Gandalf' *grins*. It worked though .. Harry died, in inverted commas, for the sake of the students of Hogwarts and hence came back to life.
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.
Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion.
I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate.
All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.
Time to die.

I wish he'd died! I never thought he would, mind you, but it'd have spared us the epilogue of doom!
Gwendoline lay down, angry. She determined to make herself miserable and cry.

Re: Harry Potter 7
The epilogue was really bad .. sloppily written and inconclusive. Her publishers must have groaned .. though I suppose they knew better than to try to interfere.

A friend of mine read it when it was part of the online leak about a week early and she was convinced it was a fanfic hoax - she was when she finished the book and discovered it was real!

I enjoyed most of the book, but the epilogue...
I really didn't enjoy that, I found it really cheesy, and there was nowhere near as much info as I'd have liked to have.
Did anyone else love McGonagall in this book? I thought she was just hilarious and so cool.

Jack clutched at Philip,panic-stricken. "He's right. We're coming to a cataract!A gigantic underground waterfall!" -my favourite moment of the entire Adventure series!

She was but I wish we had seen more of her. The epilogue didn't tell us anything did it? What happened to Hagrid? Did the Dursleys and Harry ever reconcile? What happened to the other teachers? Who did MAlfoy marry? (surely not the revolting Pansy).

Re: Harry Potter 7
Just saw this on the BBC, and thought other Potter readers here might be amused - it would have made a much better fact for the epilogue, that's for sure! Still, nice to have an inference in the text confirmed at this late date.Moose wrote:She was but I wish we had seen more of her. The epilogue didn't tell us anything did it? What happened to Hagrid? I have, and thought it brilliant. Better than some of the others. It's very long though. It's also sad, I cried at the end even though I knew what was coming. I can't wait until July for the next one.ria ann wrote:Did you mean Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows? No,I haven't seen it.

Re: Harry Potter 7
Reading through much of the thread I can see that I used to be firmly anti-Potter when I was younger! I love the books now, I suppose, in retrospect, I probably read them too early. The movies are brilliant too, and I found Deathly Hallows, part I, splendid. And yes, I too cried at the end. I only saw the movie last month, as high quality prints don't arrive in this country till MONTHS later, I firmly refuse to buy the bootleg copies usually available at all stores! Part II will probably be available around December, but I can't wait.
Helena Bonham Carter is a very violent woman! She jabbed Neville's eardrum in HP5, and in HP7-1, she had to apologise to Emma for the torture scene. I can't but help be very curious about the original scene that was cut out to avoid an R rating!

Re: Harry Potter 7
I haven't seen six or either of the sevens yet. I suppose I will in the fullness of time but I am not a big fanatic where the films are concerned - they're okay, I like the ones I have seen well enough, but they are not a patch on the books.
