On the other hand, with Goon being on the portly side, at least there'd be plenty to go around, even if he left a bad taste in people's mouths... Brilliant work, Barnard.

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

UNCLE’S CHRISTMAS VISIT by Ern Goon
On Christmas Day, Uncle came round,
to share our Christmas dinner.
So much food was piled on his plate,
if he ate it all he wouldn’t get thinner.
A huge mound of turkey, sprouts and spuds,
pigs in blankets and stuffing.
I reely believe he could eat the whole turkey
and the rest of us would get nuffing.
After dinner, mum went out
and brought in the Christmas pud.
Uncle now had a smile on his face,
and said “that pudding looks good.”
Then we kids did the washing up
because that was right and proper.
Uncle sat down and said “I won’t help,
because I am a copper.”
I wish you all a Merry Christmas,
if you’re away or home.
I hope you’re having a brilliant day
and I hope you enjoy this pome.

Would you believe, it's New Year's Eve,
It's that time of year once more.
When all around, vows abound,
Of good deeds and diets galore.
In Peterswood, there's two who could,
Stand to lose a lot of weight.
But tell that to Fatty T, and PC G,
They say they've 'too much on their plate'.
'That's the very thing!', the critics sing,
'That almost everyone can see.
Cut down your meals, and you both might feel,
A lot more healthy'.
'Gah' says Goon, biting a macaroon,
'You're all potty and talking rot',
And agreed the Toad, as he puffed and blowed,
'It's the weight of all the brains I've got!'

Excellent ‘pome’, Bertie.
I’ll see if I can come up with another one.

Superb Barnard & Bertie!
I'm extremely rusty, so I offer this short ode to Goon whilst I try to get 'back in the saddle'..
" A kind heart always brings its own reward," said Mrs. Lee.

Excellent Pete. You haven't lost your touch I see.

Into the cafe went Fatty.
He went to a table and sat. He
had a quick think.
Now, what food and drink?
And ordered cream buns and a latte.
