Could you live on the Secret Island?

Yes, for those that would like to give it a try how would you manage to live there?

As it's 2021 let's make it a bit more amenable for a twelve month stay.

You can take every single item mentioned in the books and a dozen extra items of any kind that you think would make your stay more comfortable etc.

Items The Children Took:

Can you remember what the children took to enable them to live on the Secret Island?

A Dozen Extra Items You Would Take:

Yes, what dozen things of absolutely any description would you take to make yourself more comfortable and cosy whilst living on the island?

A great topic Pete.

I think the children took books, and I'd obviously have to take a good selection of my favourites with me.

I'll have to give my dozen extras some careful consideration.

Top of the list I reckon would have to be a year's supply of toilet rolls.

Oh and toothpaste, I don't remember the children taking any with them. I could probably just about manage with a daily dip in the lake instead of a 'proper' wash, but couldn't bear to go more than 24 hours without cleaning my teeth.

I'd like to give it a try. I'm not sure what the children took the link -if it is one- "items the children took" failed to work on my phone anyway. But I'd like to take a book called "No need to Die" by Eddie McGee. He's an SAS (Special Air Service) survival expert. If nothing else it would show me why I should stick to hotels/
Bed and breakfast accommodation!

Great suggestions Jack.
My first post had no link, I was hoping we could all chip in and try and remember what the children took!

Children's Items:

1. A Cow

Forum Members Items 2021:

1.Toothpaste
2.Toilet Rolls (years supply)
3. SAS Survival Handbook - "No need to Die" by Eddie McGee.

Perhaps as the list rolls in it may give us ideas of what we could take that we may not have thought of.

I'd love to have a go at living on the Secret Island! I'm adding some more items to the list of things the characters took, though there are still plenty more to be added. For an extra item I'd like a camera with a year's supply of batteries and memory cards.

Children's Items:

1. A cow
2. Books
3. Pans
4. A kettle
5. Enamel crockery
6. Cutlery

I'd have a go. I would take a bottle of Macallan for my good friend Pete and a transistor radio with spare batteries so I could listen to Test Match Special.

Peggy took her needlework things and seemed to spend a lot of time repairing clothes!

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Also we must address the trippers issue - they are even worse than in Enid's time now.
How would you handle these marauding audio and toxic rubbish wielding invaders?

Welcome them? Join in with their picnics? Use a taser, cattle prod on them?

I'd learn a spell from Hogwarts that would either make the island invisible to other people, or put up some kind of shield around it that made people decide not to try and land.

Thinking of items the children brought with them, didn't they take candles? Plus of course, surely one of the boys must have had a length of rope round his middle? ;)

If I could take a fully functioning bathroom then I'd be happy. :D

If I was staying during winter I'd add a couple of duvets and hotwater bottle.
