Re: Whatever happened to Clopper?
Oh dear... I'm amazed they didn't manage to fit in an "It's behiiiiiiiiiind you!" or "Oh no it isn't" / "Oh yes it is" (etc.) while they were at it.
My own "pet" theory about what happened to Clopper is that Julian and Dick got stuck inside him permanently the next time they tried — still not being able to undo the zip, of course — and then he/they wandered off and got lost on Bodmin Moor, and may still be roaming out there somewhere... in the dead of the night...

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Excellent, Pete! Used to watch Magpie regularly. Awww...the lovely Jenny Hanley. The Daughter of Actress Dinah Sheridan, I think!

Excellent
I sometimes watched Magpie, but was mainly into Blue Peter.
However, whenever I see magpies, even now I count them and the song goes through my head.
Just yesterday I saw one and was pleased just a couple of seconds later to see a second

Re: Whatever happened to Clopper?
Actually Clopper was older than we thought. Here's a video that Dave Allen managed to obtain of his wartime experiences.
