Re: Blyton Books for a Deserted Island
Great idea... and supposing there's a limit of say 10 mine would be one from each of the main series which would remind me of the rest. So -
Valley of Adventure
Five get into Trouble
Rilloby Fair Mystery
The Mystery of the Strange Bundle (so many laughs in this one)
The Secret Island
Six Bad Boys
The Boy Next Door
Family at Redroofs
House at the Corner
The Magic Faraway Tree
Valley of Adventure
Five get into Trouble
Rilloby Fair Mystery
The Mystery of the Strange Bundle (so many laughs in this one)
The Secret Island
Six Bad Boys
The Boy Next Door
Family at Redroofs
House at the Corner
The Magic Faraway Tree
'Tis loving and giving that makes life worth living.

Re: Blyton Books for a Deserted Island
I expect my list would change from time to time, but off the top of my head I would choose:
The book of the Year
The book of fairies
The Faraway Collection (bit of cheat as I'd get 3 books in 1)
Well Done Noddy - just in case Anita came to visit.
Five on a Hike Together
Five Go Off to Camp
The Secret Island
I'd also include some of her nature and gardening books, plus a book of bible stories.
Oh yes, and the big book of poems that I have (can't remember the exact title).

One of the best Noddy books, in my opinion!Katharine wrote: Well Done Noddy - just in case Anita came to visit.

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Re: Blyton Books for a Deserted Island
It is indeed. Although I'm probably biased as firstly I haven't actually read all the Noddy books, and secondly, because I had that book as a child so it brings back very fond memories.
Having said that, I had 3 or 4 other Noddy books as a child, and that one is still my favourite.

Re: Blyton Books for a Deserted Island
I've just thought of a couple more I'd want to add:
The House at the Corner
The Valley of Adventure
The Rockingdown Mystery
Actually, I'd probably want to take most of the 'Adventure' series.
Blow it, I'll just get an extra large suitcase and fill it with all my Enid Blyton books.

You then just have the problem of getting the truck to your deserted island.

"Rockingdown Mystery" is a good one!Katharine wrote:I've just thought of a couple more I'd want to add:

But nothing beats "Valley of Adventure" IMHO.
