Oh wow, brilliant! I see what she means about the cottage that could be Kirrin Cottage. Thank you, Chrissie and Pete.

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Cracking pics, Chrissie! Love the quaint thatched cottage. I can remember when you actually struggled to see it because the hedges were so tall & overgrown!

The cottage with the tall hedge was actually Old Thatch in Bourne End at the Thames River, number 6.
This one near Lulworth Cove had no high hedge around.

Re: Lulworth Cove-Durdle Door-Stairhole Cove (Chrissie)
Thanks for the photos, Chrissie and Pete. Really great. You get a good idea of the view to Portland, and the layout of Stair Hole. I like to think that Enid imagined Dummy helping Barney ashore there - and I have a suspicion from the (vague) layout of the 'clifftop campsite exposed to strong gales and adjacent cove with caves' where the bears hide after the storm in Circus Days Again that Enid thought of the campsite on the cliffs near Durdle Door when she wrote that scene in the third Galliano book. It must be rather busier in Lulworth this week!

Re: Lulworth Cove-Durdle Door-Stairhole Cove (Chrissie)
No, I wasn't referring to Old Thatch, Chrissie! The cottage with low hedges in Lulworth cove is the one I'm talking about! You can clearly see Hambury Hill rising behind it..with the footpath that leads from the Cove to Durdle Door! Many years ago, you could hardly see the cottage for the high hedges & trees. They've been trimmed right down since then.Chrissie777 wrote:The cottage with the tall hedge was actually Old Thatch in Bourne End at the Thames River, number 6.
