Thanks for the photos, Chrissie and Pete. Really great. You get a good idea of the view to Portland, and the layout of Stair Hole. I like to think that Enid imagined Dummy helping Barney ashore there - and I have a suspicion from the (vague) layout of the 'clifftop campsite exposed to strong gales and adjacent cove with caves' where the bears hide after the storm in Circus Days Again that Enid thought of the campsite on the cliffs near Durdle Door when she wrote that scene in the third Galliano book. It must be rather busier in Lulworth this week!

Tim, I have one picture of the Isle of Portland seen from the Jurassic Coast, but didn't attach it when I sent them to Pete, because I thought it was not good enough.

No, I wasn't referring to Old Thatch, Chrissie! The cottage with low hedges in Lulworth cove is the one I'm talking about! You can clearly see Hambury Hill rising behind it..with the footpath that leads from the Cove to Durdle Door! Many years ago, you could hardly see the cottage for the high hedges & trees. They've been trimmed right down since then.

This must be a different cottage. No, number 6, I don't remember this cottage and I also don't remember Hambury Hill.

Lucky Star (please forgive me, I had written down your real name on a post-it note, but lost it), the Jurassic Coast and also Corfe Castle Village nearby are definitely worth a trip. I've been there in 1981, but only to the village, not to the coast. So after I had access to the Internet (1998) and found out where FOATI was filmed in 1957, I was very determined to see it all and to take pictures.

Nice pics, Chrissie. When you go back you'll see a few changes now. The lovely cottage on the cliff was sold and has changed somewhat by the new owners.

Thanks, Julie. Yes, that was to be expected that the new owners might change the look of the garden. But does it still have the beautiful thatched roof?

I can't remember, Chrissie, but they almost demolished it, and it was surrounded by scaffolding and boards for months and months.

Our holiday home is just above the Door and it's been a good few weeks since I walked down that steep hill into Lulworth due to a knee injury. I'll take a look in a coupe of weeks when I'm there again.
