How about remembrance for a password in recognition of the end of the first world war. Very apt for this time of year.. My favourite SS book is the one with the railway in it but can't think of the title. The boys go to watch at you railway as thieves have stolen stuff on it. I am also a train enthusiast. Cheers Sue.

Whilst looking through some of the SS e-books on Amazon to see if I could locate the answer (haven't done so as yet), I did come across this statement at the beginning of 'Good Work, Secret Seven'

I'm glad to see that, really — much better than either refusing to reprint the book or rewriting it beyond recognition! It's not too hard for most children to understand that "things were different then" and a story set in the past may have things happening that wouldn't be allowed nowadays.

Mind you, I can see an ambiguity in one sentence from that ROSPA notice:

"Fireworks will frighten your pets, so keep them indoors."

... The pets, or the fireworks??

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Still no answer to your question Sue - you have set a good puzzling question for those who have read and enjoy the books!

I bet Lenoir knows!!! :D :D

I didn't go to the 'ROSPA' link, Courtenay, but well spotted. It might be worth you sending them an email and pointing it out to them. :D

Getting back to the quiz, here is a clue for the Secret Seven Club members taking part.
In the book in question Peter says:
Peter told him. "Sir, I can't tell you all the details now, but the 6.2 goods train has been
switched off the main-line on to the side-line here, near Kepley, where there's a goods yard. And
there is a gang of men unloading lead from one of the waggons into a lorry nearby. I think a man
called Cheeky Charlie is in charge of things, sir."
Here are two illustrations from the book which may help too:
