The diary for The Island of Adventure is in Journal 42, Chrissie. The one for The Castle of Adventure is longer so it's in three parts in Journals 44, 45 and 46. Sadly, some of these Journals have now sold out.

Anita, thank you! ♥
I just checked my EBS Journals collection.
Thanks to Ilsa who gave me ca. 10 EBS Journals in May 2014 when we met (I read them all on the flight from London to Boston...to me it seemed like the shortest trans-atlantic flight I ever had :)), I have all journals from # 41 on until the last journal.
At some point I subscribed, maybe it was in 2014.

I'm glad you've got the relevant Journals, Chrissie.

Hi well done. Sadly I didn't have the journals as I only joined recently. I managed to buy journal 42 and journal 46 so read the Island and part 3 of Castle but no luck for the parts 1 and 2. If anyone wants to photocopy Bill's diary from journals 44 and 45 and either email or send them to I would be most grateful and prepared to pay a reasonable sum !! They are obviously like gold dust !!

Information discovered on the Internet might be considered by some as free of error but sadly this is not so, and the fact was recently confirmed when a never-before-discovered item written by the world-famous Enid Blyton was observed.

This would surely be worth a fortune I thought - but the discovery turned out to be a false one.

According to the world-wide web, 'Bill's Diary 1947' presents as being written by our favourite author, but if one scans the available lists of EB books one will not find the title in any of them.

Simply because it's not by Enid Blyton!

**********************************************************************

I've always categorised the Bill Smugs books as being the cream of Enid Blyton's crop. Of course there'd surely be other close contenders for the crown such as her 'Find-Outers' collection or the excellent 'St. Clare's,' 'Malory Towers' and 'Naughtiest Girl' books, not to mention works such as the 'Wishing Chair,' 'Faraway Tree,' and 'Six Cousins' series.

There's also 'Shadow the Sheepdog' (first EB book ever perused) and those of the Family series like 'Red-Roofs,' 'Put-Em-Rights,' 'Dreadful Children' and so on - all of which have been thoroughly enjoyed by countless (insofar as the word 'countless' means "COUNTLESS") Enid Blyton fans throughout the years.

Bill's Diary 1947 is in fact, to be found on this website:

Bill's Diary 1947, written by Terry Gustafson.

Maybe you know this and you are just making a point. If so, please forgive me!

I remember Sally who organised a get together at the Spade Oak saying she absolutely adored the Bill's Diary series.
I wonder whatever happened to Sally? Hope she's ok.

When I saw the words 'Sally' and 'Hope' together in Pete's comment (..... wonder whatever happened to Sally? Hope she's ok) I couldn't help recalling the connection with Malory Towers; at least I think that's where Sally Hope's located.

Sally of the forums posted a lot in days gone by and I've just revisited some of her entries from 2016 & 2017. She even suggested a 'Sequel Series' featuring Jack, Lucy-Ann, Dinah, & Philip - ten years on.

The characters would of course have been in their twenties by then, and incidentally .... it's a pity EB didn't write a few more novels in the same vein because they held us spellbound. The quartet endured a thrilling collection of situations embracing a desert island, spooky castle, virgin valley, eerie mountain, and other exotic locations.
