So long as you don't refer back to January and February - you will find they are all wrong as this year was a leap year and needless to say 1947 wasn't!

I was thinking that too! I think the 1942 calendar will be fine for next year though.

..and it's the time for calendars..

I enjoyed looking through the one mentioned by Anita here many moons ago..

All the calendars Tony has in the cave are smashing too:

And, it's the time for decorations too:

That "Light and Motion" decoration is brilliant, Pete!

Absolutely amazing! I have never seen a decoration like that before...perhaps because our Christmas decorations are so old. We continue to use those originally belonging to my parents and parents-in-law, some of which date from the early 1950s and which I can remember as a child in the 1960s.

Does anyone share my fondness for Advent Calendars? Every year I get out Enid Blyton's illustrated by Fritz Wegner. The pictures are magical.
I'm off to The Cave of Books to see the Sunny Stories calendars.

The calendars in the Cave are really worth checking out.
I love the circus themed one for 1949.

I was lucky enough to be given a copy of the Advent Calendar earlier this year, by a lady who'd had it since she was a child. I'm currently reading the story about John and Elizabeth as I open the related windows day by day. The artwork is beautiful, though the pictures behind the windows are a little small so I have to peer at them closely to appreciate the detail.

Good advice, Judith! I particularly liked yesterday's picture of the family of rabbits eating their supper in an underground cave/burrow.
