So long as you don't refer back to January and February - you will find they are all wrong as this year was a leap year and needless to say 1947 wasn't!Moonraker wrote:I have the 1947 calendar hanging in my kitchen! Great!

I was thinking that too! I think the 1942 calendar will be fine for next year though.Tony Summerfield wrote:So long as you don't refer back to January and February - you will find they are all wrong as this year was a leap year and needless to say 1947 wasn't!

..and it's the time for calendars..
I enjoyed looking through the one mentioned by Anita here many moons ago..

All the calendars Tony has in the cave are smashing too:

And, it's the time for decorations too:

Isn't this just wonderful!
Does anyone have one or anything similar on their tree?

Absolutely amazing! I have never seen a decoration like that before...perhaps because our Christmas decorations are so old. We continue to use those originally belonging to my parents and parents-in-law, some of which date from the early 1950s and which I can remember as a child in the 1960s.

Does anyone share my fondness for Advent Calendars? Every year I get out Enid Blyton's illustrated by Fritz Wegner. The pictures are magical.

The calendars in the Cave are really worth checking out.
I love the circus themed one for 1949.

Re: Christmas is Coming...
I was lucky enough to be given a copy of the Advent Calendar earlier this year, by a lady who'd had it since she was a child. I'm currently reading the story about John and Elizabeth as I open the related windows day by day. The artwork is beautiful, though the pictures behind the windows are a little small so I have to peer at them closely to appreciate the detail.Judith Crabb wrote:Does anyone share my fondness for Advent Calendars? Re: Christmas is Coming...
Good advice, Judith! I particularly liked yesterday's picture of the family of rabbits eating their supper in an underground cave/burrow.
