The title of the poem is interesting, were there lots of newspaper reports at the time about UFOs and flying saucers to make it ‘In the Fashion’? Or maybe it was just that Dan Dare in the Eagle and other sci fi stories were popular but the nearest Enid got to a science fiction story was The Mountain of Adventure. Maybe she should have tried one, “Five On A Trip To Mars” perhaps? I’d buy it!
