Although not everyone has commented on this thread, I find it totally fascinating. I'm not sure if it was on the forums or the Blog, but as I posted earlier, flooding at Old Thatch was mentioned. Great work, Tony; I look forward to every Wednesday now!

I like the letters from Bobs. They're written so well, you can hear the dog talking.

What a lovely lot of letters! I particularly enjoyed The Story of Proserpina (I kept on reading that as Prosperina for the first few seconds!). I can't wait for her to join Ceres again and make our lives warmer and sunnier!

It's a lovely story - I read it out of Tales of Long Ago a few days before I discovered it in the cave.

I have just read the letter for the of 19th February 1930. Not sure about Enid advising her readers to catch caterpillars that feed on the leaves of trees, but the rest of her advice is not bad. I love the grainy photos in these columns and hearing of the doings and misadventures of her pets, I'm sure they really happened.

Interesting letters. Fancy Enid being a 'Man of the Trees' and children who helped care for trees being 'Twigs'!

And both Twigs and Pug Pups issued badges that children could wear! I tried putting it into Google to find out what the badges were like, but Mr Google was unhelpful as he seemed to think I was looking for a pug puppy!!

I am obviously being very thick, here, but how do I find yesterdays letter? I know Tony said he was putting them up on Wednesdays, but for me, it's like looking for a needle in a haystack!

Edit: I think I've managed to find yesterday's. Obviously, I couldn't see the wood for the trees!

I also understand that ivy choking a tree to death, is a myth.

Sorry about the lack of link, but I thought that people would quickly get bored with the letters if I put a link up every Wednesday, and it might just lead to a string of posts by me and nobody else! As it is, some of those who have shown most interest in Old Thatch in the past have studiously avoided posting in this thread as I started it. That's a bit of a shame as there are going to be plenty of new things to discover and talk about, so I thought if I made myself scarce it might encourage some of these abstainers to join in!!

A lovely letter, again, this week. I love the fact that Enid asks advice of her readers for things like new trees, etc. Nice tips, too, about trees. I don't think I'm guilty of any... :)

Bob's letter was fascinating, too. It does sound like the pets had a lot of fun, together!

Well I only managed to find it with the help of Nigel's link. Not sure if I can track it down again either!

I'm loving the letters, they are a fascinating glimpse of life at Old Thatch all those years ago.

I am obviously expecting people to be able to motor around the Cave as I do, most unfair! I will put the links back, but if I forget, it is a very easy thing to do as you just use the last link and the arrows at the top of the page which take you backwards or forwards one issue. So if like me someone has a memory like a sieve, it is always easy to check back to the previous week if you want to remind yourself of something. The letters that are loaded in the Cave go all the way back to Christmas Day 1929.

The issue dated 18th December 1929 has a lovely Christmas card drawn by Enid:
