RIP Roger Whittaker

Sorry to hear that the singer has died. I remember that he even featured on Top of the Pops in the 1970s.

Very sad also to hear he had died. I have some of his albums - he had a voice you can just close your eyes and relax to. R.I.P.

Yes, I heard this news late last night — very sad, but at 87 at least he "had a good innings", as my mum would say. She had a tape of his greatest hits that she used to play in the car when I was little, so I was very familiar with his voice and his often very moving songs, including "Durham Town" and "The Last Farewell". It also included a couple of his famous whistling numbers, and this one was my favourite of all... :D :D :D Rest in peace, Roger Whittaker.

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Roger also starred in a children’s music and entertainment show called Whistle Stop in the late 1960s which also featured Jack Haig and Dilys Watling.
RIP Roger.

I'm sorry to hear about Roger Whittaker. My mum listened to his songs a lot when I was growing up, and I liked his voice - and his whistling. I used to whistle The Mexican Whistler to the budgie (needless to say, I was nowhere near rivalling Roger Whittaker!)

Funnily enough, I was talking to a friend about Roger Whittaker just the other day as I was reading The Stolen Songbird by Judith Eagle, in which one of the characters is a professional whistler.

RIP Roger Whittaker.

He's finally 'left old Durham town'.

A fine singer and he had some lovely hits.

Sorry to hear about the death of Roger Whittaker, many of whose songs I liked very much, especially "New World in the Morning". I actually have a CD of all his greatest hit. RIP Roger Whittaker and thank you for the music (and whistling).

Mamy Blue and I Don't Believe in "If" Any More are truly fantastic songs.
