Odd request

Post by IceMaiden »

This is a serious long shot and I'm not even sure if anyone will know what I'm talking about, but does anybody here have any idea of where I can find a bottle of Gloy glue with the rubber applicator tip? My dad keeps asking for a bottle as it was his childhood school glue and brings back a lot of memories so I thought I'd find one for him as a present but I can't locate one anywhere. I can only find a glass bottle with a cork and he wants the one with a rubber top that had a slit in the lid. It doesn't have to have any glue in it, it's the bottle itself he wants for nostalgia. I have tried everwhere I can think of to get one but no luck.

I remember it well, IceMaiden. The bottle and spreader was something like this.

I found that and these online but it seems like they are now consigned to 'history', unless somebody has one stashed away at the back of a cupboard or in their garage/shed.

Just found this on AMAZON with something similar included.

I remember using Gloy Glue at school! I haven't seen it for years, but it seems to be available from K&M (as Gloy Gum or Gloy Paste):

I would search for 'gloy glue vintage' on ebay and check regularly.

You may not be able to find one for this birthday but perhaps for future gifts.

Good luck!

Thank you for the replies :D. At least people know what glue I mean with my crazy request! I'm going to give the K&M place a call this week and see if it's possible to buy one bottle from them. I'm pretty amazed they still make it! If not I'm wondering if I could cobble together a replica somehow using the Amazon set.

Anita thank you for that link! I phoned up the company and asked if I could buy a bottle to which they said yes but it'd have be over £5 worth. So I told them to sell me whatever they had to make it that and this afternoon 8 bottles turned up. My dad'll have plenty to keep him going now! The lady I spoke to told me I was very lucky they still had some left as it's been long discontinued.

I'm glad you were able to buy some, IceMaiden. The bottle is stylish - a real blast from the past. :D
