She always looked older than she actually was. She was 23 in State Of The Union convincingly playing a woman in her 40s! In Blue Hawaii she played Elvis's mother despite being only 9 years older than him, All Fall Down she was playing Warren Betty's mother at 13 years older than him and as mentioned 3 years older than Lawrence Harvey in Manchurian Candidate but again playing his mother! All of them completely believable too!

The hallmark of a good actress is that she can make you believe the unbelievable. Angela Lansbury was certainly very convincing in all of those roles despite the actual age issues.
