Re: Your Favourite Childhood Christmas Presents?
I had a doll that was so beautiful that i did not want to take her out of the box (was about 8 then). I would play eventually with her but as soon as the holidays were over i wanted to put her back in the box. My father said no, play with her throughout the year as you would probably get another one the next year. By and by she got dirty and messy so i had to get rid of her but i still remember that doll up to this day .
The Chief looked at Fatty. "Brains are good, courage is excellent, resourcefulness is rare," he said, "but generosity crowns everything, Frederick. One of these days I'll be proud of you!" - "Vanished Prince".

My favourite doll was my Sindy, who had auburn hair. My sister had a Sindy too and we got years of play out of them in the house and garden.
I like the look of Puzzletown! Charming details but sturdy and practical.

A bit late after Christmas, but my favourite childhood present was always Lego! Closely followed by books, particularly Roald Dahl.

Superb Stephen! It just wasn't Christmas without having a Beano or Dandy annual!
This is one edition I vividly remember receiving:

My annual Annual was the Twinkle one.
I got it for quite a few years, I suspect that the last few were after I'd 'grown out of it', but I still got it for nostalgia. As with all my childhood books, I still have them, and have managed to buy quite a few more recent ones to add to the collection, although they seem quite hard to come by.

Two of favourite Christmas presents were always the latest Dandy and Beano Annuals:
Above are the two 1952 annuals, which I remember well from Christmas 1951.

For Christmas 1950, I was given a copy of Chuff the Chimney Sweep and other stories . This was my introduction to Enid Blyton. How well I remember reading this book and loving it.

What a great introduction to Enid Blyton Eddie.
The book gets a smashing review in the cave:

I would like to buy a copy but there's only copies for sale around £17 as far as I can see.

It really is a smashing review, Pete.
I don’t have the copy I was given as a Christmas present, but I found a copy without a dust wrapper about twenty years ago in a charity shop for 25p.

Re: Your Favourite Childhood Christmas Presents?
No, because we were given Enid Blyton books all the time — whenever Mum found one in the op shop (Aussie for charity shop), or we spotted one in the supermarket or newsagents that we didn't already have!!! Books by other authors were usually reserved for Christmas or birthday presents, but there was ALWAYS room for more Blyton.

Re: Your Favourite Childhood Christmas Presents?
My sister and I usually added to our Enid Blyton collection after Christmas as we would each receive a couple of book tokens from relatives.
