RIP Dame Barbara Windsor

Post by IceMaiden »

Very sad to hear on the news that Dame Barbara Windsor has died of Alzheimer's at the age of 83 :( . I loved her as Peggy Mitchell in Eastenders and of course the iconic Carry On films. One of the last acting greats. I heard one person's tribute describe her as 'the unofficial queen of England' and I agree with them.

RIP Dame Barbara.

I was sorry to learn of Dame Barbara Windsor's death, though it was sad too to hear of her suffering so badly with Alzheimer's over the last few years. Like IceMaiden, I enjoyed watching her in the Carry On films and EastEnders.

Very sad news, such a lovely bubbly lady, and well loved by all. At least she will be at peace now as it's a horrid decease to have and for loved ones to witness.

I watched Babs, the drama of her life last night (Friday), and it was acted very well with an appearance of the 'lady' herself. R.I.P.

RIP Dame Barbara.
Funnily enough, I was wandering around London with a couple of friends in 2002 for the Queen's Golden Jubilee celebrations - and we actually saw Barbara Windsor getting out of a limousine that had just pulled up in front of us, I think in Parliament Square. Presumably she was going to some event, probably connected with the Jubilee. But it was quite surreal having one iconic figure on our minds all day, only to see another, completely unexpected one right in front of us!

And with the same surname!
