RIP Geoffrey Palmer

Post by Lucky Star »

Geoffrey Palmer, star of Butterflies, As Time Goes By and many others has dies aged 93. A great comic actor I always enjoyed anything he appeared in.

Sad news. It wasn't that long ago that I watched all my As Time Goes By dvds.

Very sad news indeed. I used to like Butterflies which was filmed in Cheltenham in the late '70s/early '80s when I lived there.

R.I.P Geoffrey Palmer.

A really good character actor and great professional, who was one of my favourites for many years especially in 'Butterflies' and 'As Time Goes By'. The gentler sort of sitcoms they used to make with regulars like him were always relaxing to watch and remember. You felt you would like the characters in real life - and they were spot on regarding the quirks of a certain stratum of British society from the 1970s to the millenium. I still enjoy watching repeats of his shows. RIP.

Loved Butterflies, where he played Ria's husband.

My hubby met him on a London railway station, a good many years back.

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Oh, sad news. He was one of my favourite, memorable actors, especially in Fawlty Towers, then later in Executive Stress with Penelope Keith. Will also add in As Times Goes By here, as already acknowledged. I loved that he had such a unique style, character and appearance that he bought to his roles, that has served him well in his long and varied career. A good innings as they say. Glad that his work will continue to live on.
