Hi, Monique.
The way Union are playing at the moment Stuttgart will probably beat them.
A few more good results and you will be thinking of Europa League or Champions League next season.

I am really surprised that Union are doing so badly at the moment (not to mention Hertha, who only have 12 points so far and are midway down the second division table). Equally amazed about how well VfB are doing but we have been so often disappointed in the past that we just take each match at a time and don't think too much about the outcome at the end of the season!!!

We went for our usual Sunday walk this morning and while he is much better than he was several weeks ago he is still very slow and had to sit on a bench and later on a large rock for a few minutes to rest his back. What he finds most difficult is bending down to tie his shoe laces or pick things up from the ground.
Maybe his work colleague should pick him up and drive him to and from work. :D ;) Glad he is much better, Monique. I know the feeling when it comes to doing those things, sometimes also putting on socks. Thankfully my aches have not been too bad these last few says though. Fingers crossed all goes wll for him when he does return.

Thanks John and glad to hear that your aches have not been too bad recently! He is determined to return to work and see how it goes, so we can only hope for the best. As the treatment (injection) he received only has a 60% success rate he may need another session to fully relieve the pressure on the nerve.

Well if your husband is returning to work tomorrow Monique, I hope all goes OK for him.

We never stopped wearing masks and disposable gloves since 5th of March 2020. Maybe that's why we could avoid getting COVID-19?
Of course we cannot wear masks and gloves on 21st of October (André's 70th birthday celebration), but I hope that we won't get infected.
We just had the 4th booster shot with the flu shot at the end of September.
Here in Massachusetts COVID-19 is on the rise again. :(

I've just come across this pome by Ogden Nash

The Germ

A mighty creature is the germ,
Though smaller than the pachyderm.
His customary dwelling place
Is deep within the human race.
His childish pride he often pleases
By giving people strange diseases.
Do you, my poppet, feel infirm?
You probably contain a germ.

(a pachyderm is a large mammal with thick skin)

Two of my friends got Covid just before Christmas and still don't feel right. :(

I'll send them this poem now

I like the poem. :)

Viv, sorry to hear your friends still don't feel right.

I had Covid (for the 2nd time) early in December. Although in general I didn't feel much worse than with a 'bad' cold, I kept feeling a bit odd well into the new year. Chatting to someone, she mentioned that her husband had been signed off work for several weeks as he'd developed vertigo after having Covid over Christmas. I realised that was probably what had happened to me, although thankfully not as severely.

I also felt extremely tired at the start of the year, and someone else said it was probably post-viral and could take 60 days to clear.

Thankfully the slight vertigo has worn off, and I'm not feeling as tired as I did, so fingers crossed they were both temporary symptoms.

I read somewhere that it was 4 years since the schools all closed, so presumably we are coming up to the 4th anniversary of the first lock-down. In some ways it doesn't seem that long ago, and in other ways it seems bizarre to remember what life was like back then.

Oh dear - sorry to hear that you've got lingering lurgy as well.

Sometimes when I hear people dispute whether lock-down was right or wrong, I think that the long covid figures aren't included in the discussion.

John now says to me "is this what ME feels like?"

"Yup" :(

It was 4 years ago on the 10th March that the first case was recorded in Ipswich, Katharine, although the first case in Suffolk was reported on the 7th. The lockdown was announced on the 23rd March.
