When my old cooker died, I kept the grill-pan and rungs from the oven to use for a cook-out.

In the photo I am cooking the gammon steaks in the grill-pan in a chestnut and red wine sauce.

The fish-kettle cost me £5 in a charity shop, and the round pot (I remember our school custard was served in something similar) was also a bargain.

We nearly lost the sausages, when an excited dog bounded through our camp!

Sounds like you had a fantastic time, Viv! :D :D Well done with all the cooking!

Sorry I haven't been here much for a while — I've been busy with lots of things (including Christmas preparations — I had two major cross stitch pieces to finish in time to give as presents!!), but everything's going well for me here and also for my family back in Australia, I'm glad to say.

Hope everyone in the EBS community is also well and that you and your families all have a wonderful Christmas and New Year!

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

I was beginning to become concerned with your absence, Courtenay. Glad to know you are OK.

Hope you enjoy your first Christmas in the 'Frozen North' :D ;)

Seasons greetings Lenoir & FiveFanDownunder!

I've been trying to buy ginger ale to add to my whisky for over a week with no success.
I'm going to the co op now for one last try!!!

Best wishes to you both

Pete

Merry Christmas one and all and a Happy New Year. I'll pass on the ginger beer, there's a nice sauvignon blanc lined up for the turkey tomorrow, port with the cheese and a Baileys with the coffee. Happy days!

God bless us, everyone.

Lovely sentiments - and drink selection Kate Mary -

Continuing on this happy theme, the co op had diet ginger ale @ 55p for 1 litre in stock - I can now have a whisky and ginger - yippee!! :D :D

I hope you're not planning on ruining your 12-year-old single malts with ginger ale. That would be sacrilege!

I don’t like beer very much. I’m always glad when I’ve had enough.

I hope the ginger quest works out for you Pete. The Five seemed to be able to find something on every corner so here’s hoping it’s the same for you.

Each to their own for Christmas drinks I say! Enjoy family and friends and food everyone, thanks for the wishes all.

Oh and Kate Mary we’ve similar with the whites and the port!!
