And considering the type of comment most of those posts contained, I doubt you'd want it either, Julie!

Yes, you've hit the nail on the head there Daisy. Some may not like my book and will say so.

Rob, I really like the first chapter, when are you going to post the rest? :)
Unfortunately I didn't write much more - it was one of the few novels I never completed...but maybe one day!

I don't have many of my completed novels on computer, unfortunately, as they were typed in other formats, on floppy disks etc! Those bits I do have are in the 'cloud' and also I have a few on a memory stick, but most are just hard copy, in bound book form. I always used to bind my books and put a hard cover on them. Tony has one of these - 'The Mystery of the Disappearing Tramp' - one of only two in the world, lol! :-)

Maybe this thread should be re-named How Not to Write!

Generally I find people who don't like our work don't actually say so - most people are too polite. I always welcome (constructive!) criticism...but even that is something many people aren't prepared to give in case it offends. :-(

So when people say nothing, I generally presume they didn't like it! 8)

For some reason I read that momentarily as Disappearing Trump... I think maybe I need a break from reading the news.

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

I fell into writing by taking part in the early "let's write a story" thread on here. That was of course without any planning - as of course one had to follow another's idea. Gradually it ground almost to a halt until only Dick Kirrin and I were left. We have since written at least six stories for our own amusement - mixing up characters from different series at times. That idea began with someone adding Fatty to the mix of a Fives story on the forum and a great long tale ensued! By corresponding privately via facebook, we do plan ahead to a greater degree than before. It's great fun and an interesting hobby!
