Re: Puffin Webcam, Burhou Island
I've just seen Huffin and Puffin going in and out of their burrow, right in the foreground - the best close up I've had for years!
'Tis loving and giving that makes life worth living.

I've just seen four puffins scurrying about on the close up camera.

Sad you missed them Chrissie, I started watching them for about a half hour before I posted so it might be worth your while, if you can, logging in at about 10am-10;30am your time. Good luck

Re: Puffin Webcam, Burhou Island
Don't worry Chrissie. It was a one off. One of the puffins was celebrating a birthday but as the others failed to maintain social distancing, the puffin police broke up the party and arrested the organiser.
Apparently, the giant rabbit wasn't invited so he snitched on the puffins.

One puffin, one seagull and one rabbit in the distance.

Re: Puffin Webcam, Burhou Island
About 2-pm today I recorded from my screen a short (app 9-minute) video of the puffins on the 'close up' camera. Since then I have created a 'quick' webpage on one of my domains where I have uploaded the video and it can be viewed HERE
Watch closely to the left of the greenery in the foreground at about 14:01:50 on the clock on the video, as one of the birds throws up a cloud of earth

Re: Puffin Webcam, Burhou Island
Lovely video, John, but I was waiting in vain for the cloud of earth even though I never took my eyes off the screen.
Did you ever watch this one? It's from the coast of Maine, about 4 or 5 hours north of where we live:

Re: Puffin Webcam, Burhou Island
Also I often wondered if the males or the females dig the burrows?
Or is it team work?

The males dig the burrows, Chrissie, as the females aren't licensed to operate the earth movers and they won't use shovels as it may damage their nail polish.

Do you have this on the authority of any puffins of your acquaintance, John?

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)
