Hurray, I just saw my first puffin for the season. One sitting on a rock and another jumped out of his burrow and walked around.

I've just seen two puffins emerge from the same burrow. They seem to be very camera shy this season. The giant rabbit is patrolling the island as usual.

Great news:
The cameras have been moved and the views are fabulous, both cams are much better than previous years now.

The Colony cam is close to the water and you see the puffins swimming.

And the other cam we get to see puffins up close and lots of them.

Interested know what you other puffin watchers think of the changes.

For those who are interested the puffin cams are back. There are three, all good views. I have seen a puffin yet, but large rabbits are still there.

Very excited, just saw a puffin up close on the main cam.

And now several on the close up cam. I think its going to be good puffin season. yippea

Chrissie, there are plenty of Puffins on the Island this year but they not at all consistent with when they appear.
The first time I fluked seeing them there were about 8 of them running around and mixing together, it was lovely, so I logged on the same time the next couple of nights and didn't see them at all, but saw a couple at totally different time. But the last couple of nights haven't managed to see any, just those gorgeous rabbits.
Pleased to know there are plenty on the island just wish I could fluke seeing them more often.

cheers

Sue, I just checked again. Usually in previous years I was almost always successful if I checked for them between noontime and 1 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (US) aka 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. British time.
But so far I haven't seen a single puffin this year, just the giant rabbits (my husband was wondering, WHAT they eat to be that full-figured as our garden rabbits are skinny so soon after the winter?).
But I'll keep looking for them on the next days.

They've decided that a vegetarian diet is boring and have progressed on to puffins, Chrissie.

In that case, you'd better think of changing your avatar, John, before they devour it.
