On the subject of YouTube, one of the videos we had to watch was about ghost hunters.

Although not my area of interest, I know there are a few similar programmes on mainstream TV. I haven't watched any, but I'm assuming that as they are on TV that they are to a certain point conducted 'properly'. The one on YouTube showed a couple of young men in a disused hospital. They started off outside the building which was fenced off and boarded up - as it was an unofficial video, I am guessing that they gained access to the building illegally.

There was no way of verifying whether the paranormal activity they said they were picking up could have been genuine, or whether someone else in the building was creating some special effects.

I've just ordered a "regular deep pan Hawaiian" from my local pizza place (I've mentioned it before here). They scanned my credit card, then scanned it again, then asked me to confirm my order again. I hope they are only having a 'senior moment ' and aren't going to change me twice.
UPDATE: it's just happened again - weird hope not a new scam? Probably not - unless they're closing soon?

I'm busy for the past week preparing our France trip in April/May.
Our public library used to have a lot of France travel guides in 2017 (before we went to the Loire) which almost all have disappeared.
So I am dependent on my own old travel guides and three maps for the Côte d'azur, Bretagne and Normandie which we ordered at amazon.
We'll spend the first week from 27th of April until 4th of May at Carol Drinkwater's guest cottage at the Olive Farm near Cannes.
Last year I've read all her Olive Fram autobiographies and can't wait to see it in person.

I've passed my LTO. That's my "license to operate". Basically it means I can continue working for the next 3 years. Until the next time.

Yes, we will check online as well. Fortunately our public library had a fairly recent Rick Steves Côte d'azur travel guide from 2022 which informed us about some regulations that were not yet existing in 2017 (our last France trip).
The big problem in France are the strikes, something the US hardly ever experiences (at least not here in Massachusetts). We had one long strike in front of St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester a few years go. The nurses wanted more money (they already make the triple income of what teachers make).

My dad and his wife live in France, so if they come over to visit me (and other relatives) they sometimes find that their journey is affected by both French and British strikes!

Funny experience this afternoon, when 8 men (4 at the door, 4 standing by the gate) turned up at the house with a removal van! All looked like they could handle themselves in a fight, so I wondered what the heck was going on at first when I opened the door to four men all dressed alike in dark clothing, and could see another four farther up! They'd got the right house number, but the wrong street.

Doesn't beat what happened years ago when I lived in a different house (and town), when a man knocked at the door and asked 'where do you want him?' I asked 'who?' He said 'the old man'. And then two other people started carrying a coffin to the door! Again, they'd got the right house number but the wrong street.

I can't beat those stories, but years ago I opened the door to a man selling something (I forget what!) and he asked, "Is your mum in?" I was 27 with a 2-year-old child!
