If I have breakfast then I like a cup of tea with it, I like tea with things but most mornings I don't feel like breakfast, and coffee is lovely on its own. It's not so much that I feel really tired when I get up, I just feel a bit fed up and gloomy but having a coffee makes me feel a bit more ready to get on with the day :D

I do like a nice cuppa in the afternoon though, especially if I've got a lot of work on, I get to the point where I've done too much and risk ruining stuff if I keep going, so a lovely strong milky cuppa recharges my batteries! :D

And I always have a cuppa whenever I eat bacon and eggs on toast (not necessarily for breakfast, I usually have them for evening meal!) :)

I'm not fussed about tea but my wife likes the peppermint tea by Tea Pigs. I don't like teabags dunked in water, tea should be made properly in a pot.

I've seen the Tea Pigs in Sainsburys - are they nice because they're horrendously expensive - over £4 for 15 teabags!!!

Just sipping an old all-time favourite of mine - Irish Barry's Gold Blend.

I also love Taylor's of Harrogate as they have a brew especially for hard water - I have a bit of trouble with that where I live. However, good quality tea bags are a little hard to come by in Germany so I usually stock up when in Ireland or the UK.

As a special treat there is loose-leaf tea form Whittard of Chelsea - which is a bit pricey, but they do excellent teas.

The wife loves them. I didn't know they were expensive. Thank you for telling me that she is being extravagant, Cathy.

Haha well you know me John - always ready to jump to your defence ;)

I have thought about trying them as mint is my favourite herbal tea and I'd like to see how different they are to Twinings and the supermarket own brands, but I get through several cups of it a day so I can't really justify over £4 just for about 5 days worth of tea - I could buy a chicken with that!! :)

I mainly drink tea - don't think you can beat Tetley personally!

I will drink coffee as well, usually once in the morning, and then I always have a hot chocolate before I go to bed whilst reading a book.

Heaven! :)

I'd like to have a hot chocolate drink before bed but hot chocolate always seems to act like a diuretic for me so I keep waking up needing a wee!

Definitely Tetley's for me. Most of the time, green tea....

Of course, as a Canuck I also occasionally indulge with Red Rose tea. "Pity," for those of you on the other side of the Atlantic pond....!

I will only buy Fairtrade products (where possible), so many of the brand-leaders are 'out' for me. For a bog-standard cuppa, I agree with Eddie, 99 takes some beating. We often buy Waitrose ob and for a treat I rather like Sainsbury's 'Taste-the-Difference' loose black tea.

Tesco are the worst of the supermarkets as none of their own label teas are Fairtrade, and the majors such as Teltley's and PG Tips aren't either. Sainsbury's, Waitrose and the Co-op are great ambassadors for the Fairtrade movement.

Thanks for that, Cathy. I'd not seen that one. However, all there standard teas are not fair trade, as Sainsbury's Waitrose and the Co-op (and possibly others) are.
