Happy Birthday Francis. I hope it's a wonderful and Blyton filled day.

Re: Happy Birthday Francis
Thanks to everyone for their best wishes - everyone (and the dog!) has left now - quite a few with pieces
of cake etc. The mighty feast has been denuded although we have enough to last a few days and a week's
worth of cake to consume. Luckily the forecast rain seemed to avoid Guildford and I managed to take Monty (the dog) out several times to walk off the affects of all the food. Most of the presents were gifts of money (everyone knows how I like haunting the second hand bookshops but I received a lovely copy of 'The Secret Mountain' which I will read for the first time. I do love the stories with mountains (and sea, islands and castles) featured. I also got a few puffin related items - again everyone knows how I love them so much. I will drink the health of 'Huffin' and 'Puffin' over the next few days.

Ooh - you're in for a treat, Francis! The Secret Mountain has long been a favourite of mine. I'm currently writing a Journal article on it and I'm enjoying the delicious darkness of the story.Francis wrote:I received a lovely copy of 'The Secret Mountain' which I will read for the first time. The puffin-related items sound great too!

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)
