Today there was the first snow, it feels very Christmassy!
I follow your mince pies experiment almost every day.
They don't exist in Germany, what a pity. I would enjoy them with eggnog, would that be ok?

Many thanks everybody for your wonderful birthday wishes, and to those who sent them privately too.
You are all a great bunch - but, I think reading John P's comments he definitely needs to get down to specsavers!! 
As I was telling Wolfgang earlier it's been a super day. The nurse came to see to my Mum, afterwards my Dad tried to put the fold up table away, fell over it, smashed his head on the big oak table and knocked himself completely unconscious.
My Mum thought the best solution to bring him round was to yell at him in frustration, anger and love.
We eventually got him back on his feet.
He now has a massive black eye and bruises that even Fatty would be envious of!
Time now after picking my wife up from a 13hr shift in work for us to have our time and have some single and most likely double malt whiskies together.
Otherwise hitting 55 has been rather uneventful!!

If he was knocked unconcious and considering his age I think I would have sought medical help as well. However, I hope he is OK.
