Thanks everyone for all the good wishes.

So far I've had lots of lovely cards, some money (always useful) and a couple of DVDS - The complete set of George and Mildred, and The Family Way, plus some sweets.

Just treated myself to a bag of crisps for lunch, only to discover they are a month out of date!!!

So far it's not been particularly warm and cosy though - I had to work this morning, delivering leaflets, I can't find a pair of gloves and thought I was going to have to give up after the first 10 minutes or so as my fingers felt as though they were going to drop off, thankfully though it did warm up just a little, and I even saw the sun at one point.

Off to my weekly ballet class in a little while - so I'll definitely be warm after that!!

Haven't spotted any ginger beer among the presents yet, so when I take the crisps back for a refund I'll see if I can get myself a bottle.

Happy birthday.

Crisps don't sound very Blyton, have you decided to go with a modern update?
If I could live here on this secret island always and always and always, and never grow up at all, I would be quite happy

By bizarre coincidence the crisps I'm eating are more than a month out of date. Best before 20/10/12. Oh well, my fault for leaving them at the bottom of the box every week and eating the new packets!
"It's the ash! It's falling!" yelled Julian, almost startling Dick out of his wits...
"Listen to its terrible groans and creaks!" yelled Julian, almost beside himself with impatience.

I don't mind belated birthday wishes - it's the thought that counts.

Thanks to everyone for your good wishes, those on here and on Facebook certainly made my day. It was quite a quiet birthday, most of my evening was taken up with getting my youngest daughter to and from Rainbows, then running the other daughter to a ballet rehearsal (she takes an exam next week), followed by quick visit to my parents to ask my dad to print some homework for my daughter, as our printer has broken.

I'm sure everyone will be relieved to hear I got my out of date crisps changed! Forgot to get myself some ginger beer though. Still, it was worth getting the stale crisps, as the lady who exchanged them for me was someone I worked with over 20 years ago, and we had a nice little catching up chat.

Unfortunately due to all my rushing about, there wasn't time for a special birthday tea/dinner. We are having a birthday party for my youngest daughter on Monday - a house full of 7 years olds! So hopefully I'll persuade the rest of the family that when the guests have all gone home we'll get a Chinese as my birthday treat. Definitely don't think that could be classed as a very Blytonian meal.

Francis, my grandmother always used to make the cold hands comment, it was nice to hear it.
