Very upset- I took my iPod Touch 4 gen to school and I dropped it- it has a big crack on the left of the home button and a line goes up to the top (not a bad crack), but it still works. Don't want to tell my parents. Might try to get it fixed by myself without telling my parents. It isnt as bad a boy in my class- his mum and dad are divorced and he had his tablet/computer in his bag and it has a giant crack. He is so upset.

There are phone shops that will put a new screen in for you, and I don't think it costs that much. It is certainly worth looking around when you're in town next. You could try Googling ipod screen repair and see what comes up. I found this one when I looked.

That certainly looked reasonably - £25 to fix the screen... then add £7 to send it to them, £7 to get it back and £12.50 for the repair... so nearly £50, a bit less reasonable for an 11 year old.

Hopefully there would be a place near you that you could personally drop it off and avoid postal charges.

I never had such an expensive device when I was your age (actually, I didn't get anything comparable until I was 25!) but I did have a (second hand) Nokia 3310 when I was about 15, and despite all the internet jokes about it being the hardiest object on the planet I managed to crack the screen on it twice... nightmare. Luckily my Dad got it fixed both times for me.

I wouldn't recommend getting it fixed without your parents knowing, though, as they will probably notice if you don't have it for a few days and will be more unimpressed by the deception than the breaking of it.

Yes, I quite agree.

We have a repair shop locally that will replace a screen for about a tenner.
