As I believe it (certainly true to Kingston Council), a photograph has to be taken by the warden as evidence that no permit is displayed. I would imagine looking at the photograph - and it must have applied to most cars in this street as all would have been covered in snow - the warden would have been disciplined - or counselled as we say today.

You mean he'd have been told he was 'A Very Naughty Boy!' ? :-D

The discussion about books being regarded as disposable has been given a thread of its own:

'Oh voice of Spring of Youth
hearts mad delight,
Sing on, sing on, and when the sun is gone
I'll warm me with your echoes
through the night.'

Here's yet another quiz that others here might enjoy: Which fictional animal character are you?

I could guess what some of the other possible results might be from quotes that I recognised, but the one I turned out to be was Charlotte the spider from Charlotte's Web, who is one of my favourite characters from childhood, so I'm quite happy! :D

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

I find these kinds of quizzes almost impossible to resist!

I'm Mrs. Beaver from The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C. S. Lewis:

Warm, busy, and sensible, it’s the joy of your life to make your home a comfort to your family and friends, and to ensure everyone is well fed.
"Heyho for a starry night and a heathery bed!" - Jack, The Secret Island.

"There is no bond like the bond of having read and liked the same books."

A little anxious by nature, and occasionally so obstinate that you get yourself into trouble, you’re nonetheless good-hearted and utterly devoted to your friends, just like Moley :? Maybe I'd better read the book to see what I'm like!

The quiz was a bit of fun, but some of the questions were hard to answer, so not sure if it's a true reflection of me, but it could probably have been worse.

Sorry to say I couldn't complete it as Qs 2 and 3 didn't give a suitable option. I didn't carry on.

By the sound of that, I'm guessing Nigel would have been Eeyore.

 I think you're right, Courtenay! (I too guessed that Eeyore was one of the possible characters.)

Cheers, Katharine and Wolfgang! Aw - Moley is a lovely character, Katharine!

Question 2 was particularly hard, I thought!

I found that no answer was really applicable in at least 2 places... and I got Moley, which I don't think was particularly accurate.
