It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Oops I haven’t been on here for the past two days but very belated happy birthday from me too. I’m glad you seem to have had a truly wonderful day. :D

Thanks, both. :D

Sadly due to the train strikes etc and rail workings my surprise birthday treat from my daughter to see the Christmas lights and Christmas shopping in London on Saturday has been cancelled. That's the trouble with living in the south west - we're cut off!

Sorry about your treat being cancelled, Julie. I hope you can go on another date. Everywhere is affected by the strikes - not just the South West. In June 2022 my daughter, son and I (who were in the Midlands, the South East and the South West respectively) had all managed to get five days off work to visit my mum and her husband in North Wales. As it happened, none of us could get there on the day we'd originally planned, because of the strikes. In the end, we only managed to have two days with my mum and her husband instead of five. We've all been affected by the strikes on countless occasions since then too. :(

Julie, sorry to hear your birthday treat isn't able to go ahead.

I hope you manage to get to London at some point.

I'm sorry to hear about that too, Julie. I had to cut short a holiday in Cornwall earlier this year because of railway strikes as well, as I was travelling by train and wouldn't have been able to get home on the day I'd originally planned!

Hope you do get to go to London some time soon, preferably while the Christmas lights are still on!
