Two songs that always come to mind at this time of year:
Barbara Dickson - 'January, February' (the clip is from Cheggers Plays Pop, 1980, which I used to watch as a youngster):

Pilot - 'January' (the clip is from Crackerjack, 1975, which I also used to watch):

I loved those two shows as well. January, February is now stuck in my head.Anita Bensoussane wrote: ↑30 Jan 2024, 10:26 Two songs that always come to mind at this time of year:

Eric Cantona sings "The Friends We Lost"

Anyone else catch this?
My wife and I are considering buying the lp and catching Eric live.
Not sure how much the tickets will cost?
Edit:
I see he's touring in the Spring. There is a show near us @ £51.55 per ticket.

Re: Last Song You Listened To
Yes, I saw that last night. I'm afraid we thought it was so awful we considered turning the sound down until it was over! As my daughter had no idea who Eric Cantona is, I told her I thought he was probably a better footballer than a singer.
I did however enjoy Chesney Hawkes performing 'I am the one and only' which was also on the show. My daughter hadn't heard that song before either. When the programme had finished, we turned over to see The Masked Singer and one of the performers sang 'One and Only' on there! Just like buses, you don't hear a song for ages, then 2 versions come along.

I didn't see it last night as I don't watch much TV in the evenings these days, and I wouldn't have blamed you if you had Katharine. Is that the rubbish we are paying our TV license fee for? And as for £50+ a ticket to watch something like that, I'd rather donate it to the charity I have recently started doing voluntary work for.

That is most kind of you to say Katharine.
My wife and I certainly have had a eureka moment discovering this hitherto unknown talent of Eric's.
We obviously knew he excelled at football and indeed Kung - Fu, but a masterful lyricist and singer, no.
Perhaps this other sublime track by Eric will appeal to you and others more than the earlier one:

I found that one preferable to the one on 'The Big Show'. Not sure his style of singing is really to my taste, but then it would be a boring world if we all liked the same thing.

Pete
Cantona is one of the most talented footballers I've ever seen. When he was playing for Man Utd he single-handedly destroyed Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough back in the 90s. His footwork, guile, passing and reading of the play was outstanding.
Thank you for alerting us to his other great talent. You can keep the bland, boring so-called singers of today. Give me Eric any day. Hope you get a ticket. His concerts are bound to sell out.

Re: Last Song You Listened To
Thank you for your most tolerant post Katharine - I'm glad you liked the second song!
John, as a man with a most discerning musical ear, your warm and positive thoughts are most appreciated.
Will we manage to convince Eddie though - our resident musical oracle!!!
Edit:
My wife has said it's seeing Eric in the flesh or any possible future forum Meetup - we can't stretch to both - now I have a dilemma!!

Ha ha - is this your subtle way of trying to arrange a forumite meetup at the next Eric Cantona concert?

What a superb idea Katharine - now if only we can find a link (no matter how tenuous) between the golden voiced Eric and Enid Blyton...
