Bryan Brindley - Saltwater

After being locked out of his flat, Bryan just shrugged and picked up his axe!
But, what does Bryan have to do with our latest posts here?

Let's not overlook the fact that their names begin with an E and have four letters!
"Heyho for a starry night and a heathery bed!" - Jack, The Secret Island.
"There is no bond like the bond of having read and liked the same books."
- E. Nesbit, The Wonderful Garden.

How I would love that to be the correct answer Anita!
Here is the answer:
'How much does it cost to see Chesney live (with support from Bryan Brindley)compared to Eric the Karate Kid?' I hear many cry:
(Remember Eric charges £51.55)
So you could get two tickets for Chesney (and Bryan Brindley) and have enough change for a couple of portions of chips after the concert!Thursday 22nd February 2024
Doors open at 6:30pm
Support Act: 7:30pm Bryan Brindley
Headline act: 8:20pm
Tickets £21.50
Location: Tamworth Assembly Rooms
Let's just remind ourselves how good Chesney is:
Chesney Hawkes - The One and Only - Flashmob - Manchester UK

Very good!
Now, all we need is a link between Chesney Hawkes and Enid Blyton.....and confirmation that Bryan Brindley has got back into his flat..

Re: Last Song You Listened To
I must say, what a wonderful haunting song. I had to use subtitles to hear the lyrics, but what a soulful, meaningful song it is. I will certainly stream the album when it is released, and listen through headphones to appreciate it fully. His voice reminded me of Lee Marvin singing Wandrin' Star, back in the 70s.
It must be remembered that music is an art, and like a painting, a piece of art isn't appreciated or understood by everybody. Hence this song might be deemed as rubbish. I found it enchanting.

Thank you Nigel - I had heard a whisper that you were tolerant - I didn't realise you were so open minded and musically tolerant too!
Eric's vocal delivery reminds me a little of Leonard Cohen on Valium - superb!!

I loved the YT comment that said it sounded like a frog singing!

Was the commentator having a veiled dig at Eric's nationality?

It's obvious why tickets for Eric's gig are double the price of one for Chesney Hawkes. At least Eric has talent, unlike that one-hit, talentless wonder Hawkes.
You're right, Pete. Cantona and Leonard Cohen are two of the world's greatest vocalists.

Thank you John!
Katharine, I'm sure John means the expression 'one-hit, talentless wonder Hawkes' in its most positive, life affirming and heart-warming way!!!
And to be fair, to the best of my knowledge, Chesney Hawkes has never claimed to have the same god given talent that our Eric has been gifted with!

Re: Last Song You Listened To
Now this really IS a singer. Sadly, David Alexander no longer 'is' as he passed away in 1995 at the age of 56, less than a year after the concert from which this recording was taken. As one of the comments on the YouTube pages says - "Why do some people become famous and most don't? David Alexander had the voice to obliterate more or less every singer on the planet but remained relatively unknown" and I have to agree, having listened to one of his albums today - the one of some of his songs from this very concert.

Eric Cantona - Tu me diras

The Guardian has a smashing interview about Eric's musical journey.
It's extremely moving:
