Funny you should mention Jimmy Justice. I've been listening to Ain't That Funny recently, with the line

'Not so funny when nobody cares if you live
Not so funny when nobody cares if you die'

Ironically Jimmy Justice died last year, but it wasn't mentioned in any of the mainstream media (as far as I know). Rather cruelly apt.

That's strange, as the one source that is normally 'on-the-ball' with updating biographies - Wikipedia - indicates that he is still with us. His wife died in 2017.

I actually looked that up last night as I was wondering if he was still alive.

edit: Funny enough I just looked further down the search engine and found this link - also Wikipedia. Very odd, as it links to the link above.

I'd never heard of Jimmy Justice.

I listened to the two songs mentioned, plus another one 'Spanish Harlem'. I've head the latter, and 'My Little Girl is Smiling' sounded familiar, but I'm not sure if I've heard his versions of those songs or not. I see they've both been covered by other artists.

I do like that era of music. :)

I'm currently listening to a Jimmy Justice CD which I ordered late last night and which arrived today. The first track on it is a song that he recorded in 1960 - four years before it was a hit for "Freddie & The Dreamers" - I Understand.

Absurdly, Wikipedia won't allow information of his death because there are no 'reliable sources'. It's discussed here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Jimm ... (musician). The only report appears to be this one, https://www.facebook.com/groups/oldacts ... 494467175/, which isn't considered 'reliable' by Wikipedia.

'Theme for Young Lovers' by The Shadows. One of their best tracks for me.

This is the last track on the 4-CD set I mentioned in another topic a couple of days ago, and I've just finished listening to the 4th CD.

Which, thanks to the wonderful film, The Ladykillers, often leads me on to Haydn's Serenade for Strings... :D

I've caught several TV interviews with Cliff Richard recently, who is celebrating his 65th year in the music industry. What an achievement! I've just listened to a few of his songs, Wired for Sound being a favourite:

"Heyho for a starry night and a heathery bed!" - Jack, The Secret Island.

"There is no bond like the bond of having read and liked the same books."
- E. Nesbit, The Wonderful Garden.

I've just listened to a succession of totally depressing news stories

A full-body head-bang to Smoke on the Water has helped to lift my mood :D

I've now found a potted history of the song, based on true events

It's strange that that song lifted your mood, Viv - isn't it depressing news to learn that some stupid with a flare gun burned the place to the ground?

This evening I spent several hours in front of a warm telly enjoying films about The Beatles. :D

Sadly, the ear-worm stopping me from going to sleep is Smoke on the Water. :(
