I understand your logic Viv.

The law seems odd sometimes to me.

If someone had murdered a defenseless 97 year old woman I assume most people would want justice and punishment to fit the crime.

If it was found that someone had murdered countless elderly people, deliberately they would demand an even harsher sentence...

Furious this week as someone decided to phone my work and complain about something I said on Facebook. Pure spite on their part.
"It's the ash! It's falling!" yelled Julian, almost startling Dick out of his wits...
"Listen to its terrible groans and creaks!" yelled Julian, almost beside himself with impatience.

Gosh, they do sound mean-spirited! I doubt anyone will take much notice of them.

Well it took up an hour or so of my manager’s time as she wasn’t sure how to handle it and had to consult the creative services guy as he handles much of our social media. Then she had to come to talk to me, but just said I’d said nothing wrong and anyway whatever I do on social media is none of their business. She did advise me to make the job section of my profile more private which I’ve now done.

That's good advice Fiona.

Just between ourselves, I work in a bank, I'm a family man, a football fan and my real name is Harry.

How can someone do that? I don't do facebook but surely what you put on there is none of your work's business whatsoever!

Similar to what was discussed a while ago, but, in particular, the stories you click on that have a 'continue reading...' button after the first few paragraphs for seemingly no reason as it's not behind a paywall or anything.
I get annoyed with the amount of paywall sites as well, but at least I understand the reason for it - it's clearly a tempter done to increase subscriptions and revenue. So at least it makes sense even if it's annoying.
But having to click on 'continue reading' before it loads the rest of the story makes a lot less sense when they're not trying to get you to sign-up or pay anything. It just seems an unnecessary annoyance as it's pretty obvious people who click on a story are intending to read it. Plus, it often takes at least two or three attempts on my devices before it finally loads the rest of the story. Often I just give up.
I've just now tried three times on a story and then given up as it just kept reloading only to still say 'continue reading...' I would do if they'd let me!

It's possibly because it reloads the page/loads a new page and therefore increases their page views and their ad revenue? I know of several extremely annoying clickbait websites where a simple story is told over 10 or more pages for that reason.

Ah, thanks. That sounds right, Fiona.
I did suspect the only reason must be along those kind of lines, but wasn't sure how it would possibly benefit them - it clearly doesn't benefit the user - by making you unnecessarily click to see the rest of the page. But, yeah, like you say, it probably counts as an extra view or something each time for them.
Still irritating to deal with, but at least there's method to the madness.

When you spend money buying something on DVD, yet have to put up with loads of trailers for other films / shows before it loads every time you want to watch it. Really intrusive and annoying.
